Hitting the Ground Running to Aid Reclaiming 85% of pre-pandemic Record Visitation Numbers
As more borders fully reopen and international tourism returns with a vengeance, destination marketing organizations (DMOs) are racing to re-ignite travelers’ desire to visit and re-engaging industry partners to resume tourism promotion across the world.
The most internationally visited city in the USA — New York City — showed why they are the city with the most superlatives, when NYC & Company, the official destination marketing organization of the city became the first USA DMO to re-establish its presence in Southeast Asia when they appointed BrandStory as their market representative for the region, focusing primarily on the 6 economies of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
The Challenge
As if to make up for lost time, our appointment came in August 2022, and we had 2 short months to plan, prepare and facilitate NYC & Company’s return to the region with their members in October, to showcase the most dynamic and vibrant city in the world.
The Result
Reflecting the multi-dimension diversity and energy of the city, multiple activations were executed within a week that included:
- Media meetings with prominent journalists and editors, and online influencers, to tell the story of the city that had multiple dimensions to appeal to everyone
- Conference panellist session to share why It’s Time to Make it New York City for meetings, incentives conferences and events
- Intensive travel trade engagement to re-connect with the regions’ top intermediaries who arrange and book travel, with over 3000 minutes of business meetings / 210 business meetings
- Brand partnership with one of the city’s most recognizable luxury icons — Tiffany & Co.
All this on top of negotiating and securing a marketing collaboration with Singapore Airlines to jointly promote the world’s longest flight from Singapore to New York City!
